In the greatest act of selfless mercy, the very Son of God was born in our world to die for your sins. Jesus did not come to find a life for himself, but to give himself up for all people. And we can’t stop talking about it.

Quick Questions

What kind of church is Grace?

God’s grace welcomes you, no matter who you are or where you come from – and so do we. First and foremost, Grace is a Christian church. We believe that Jesus Christ is the true Savior of all people. By his perfect life, innocent death, and triumphant resurrection, he saves all lost sinners even without our help.

Jesus Christ makes us a special people, right with God and ready for life! We learn this from the Bible, God’s authentic message of grace and guidance for us. This is where we also learn to appreciate the mystery and mercy of the triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Every Grace member is informed and involved in our mission to glorify God, grow in his word, and spread his Word to the world. Three full-time pastors lead the church in this mission.

Grace is a Lutheran church affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Who are Grace members?

You will find a delightful diversity of people at Grace representing all ages and walks of life. Local college students, suburban families, east side singles, downtown empty nesters, seniors, and newly married couples make Grace a place to feel welcome.

About half of the members live within ten miles of the church, while the other half travel from the outer metro area to enjoy a thriving downtown church.

What are the services like?

Grace worship services blend the excellence of old and new with historical architecture, classic music, and modern messages for 21st century people. The service settings offer a variety of styles, such as involving worshipers in sung and spoken responses, providing a fulfilling worship experience to the experienced Lutheran and curious observer alike. Worship at Grace is both reverential and relevant.

Service times are Sundays at 7:45, 9 & 10:30 a.m. and Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Dress comfortably – everything from traditional Sunday best attire to jeans is seen in our pews on Sundays! A staffed children’s nursery is also available during the 9 a.m. service. Want to check out a service? Click here to view the most recent sermon available.
How do I get to Grace and find parking?

Over 200 street parking spots are available within a two block radius of the church. Here is a map of Grace’s location.

What is the process for church membership?

How do I learn more about weddings at Grace?

The Grace pastors help couples (both members and non-members) plan a Christ-centered wedding ceremony in a beautiful, historic church. The ceremony usually lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. The pastors also provide pre-marital counseling. A professional staff of organists and musicians are available, as well as the option of renting the Grace Center for an on site reception.

Contact the church office or Chelsie Mattek, Events Coordinator, with any questions or inquiries about wedding ceremony availability. There is a nominal fee for building use.

How do I Become a Member at Grace?

Membership at Grace means more than a person’s name on a church roster. Membership is about relationships!

Our new member process aims to nurture those relationships, which includes but is not limited to an agreement together on the truths of the Bible. Unity of belief is not the end, but a powerful beginning to an active church life at Grace.

Those who want to join Grace coming from other WELS churches will be familiar with our beliefs, but are still invited to meet with one of the Grace pastors to establish a connection and relationship. During this meeting, a Grace pastor will ask you questions about your church life, but more importantly the meeting is to get to know you as a person–what you like to do, your hobbies, and how you might like to get involved at Grace as a member.

For those coming from a non-WELS church or different denomination or synod, or who have little or no religious background at all, you are invited to spend time studying the Bible and what Grace believes as a church in a Bible Information Class (BIC) taught by the pastors. After the completion of Bible Information Class, attendees will have the opportunity to become members (along with baptism and confirmation, if requested), share their interests with the Grace pastoral team, and meet other new faces at Grace at a quarterly New Member Welcome event!

Whether you have attended regularly attended church your entire life or have never had an active church life until now, you are welcomed–and invited–to join the Grace family of believers!
