Broadway Building Construction

We are now ready to enhance our touch in the community with the construction of the Broadway Building with five connection points into the church building: basement, balcony, sacristy, and people-flow ingress-egress points from the front and back of the church.

Connection

• Connecting us to our Lord & Savior in heaven (increased support for worship)
• Connecting Grace members to each other (fellowship & education)
• Connecting the 1901 building at all levels to the Grace Center (campus stewardship)

Exterior

• Lots of glass for visibility into and out of the gathering area, to connect us to our neighborhood, so visitors feel welcome and passersby can see the action inside.
• Multi-colored translucent film on the second-floor windows, drawing from the Luther window and forming a color connection between existing and new.
• Brick stair tower to anchor the North end, colored to match the existing church, with a set of narrow triple windows above a larger single window below, forming a design connection to the North and South church towers. 
• Accessible ramp entrance to provide easy entry for all.

Interior: Broadway Level

• Double-wide passage through the North tower to connect to the existing narthex.
• Welcoming greeter desk facing the new glass entrance.
• Large hospitality counter for refreshments, with supporting adjacent kitchenette (full-size refrigerator/ freezer, dishwasher, sink, work counters & storage).
• The north exterior wall of the existing church is fully exposed in the gathering area, featuring the beautiful stained-glass windows above the brick, stone & terra cotta.
• Large skylights will provide an atrium feeling for the space, along with plenty of natural light to illuminate the stained-glass windows inside the sanctuary.
• Elevator near the entry for easy connection to all three levels
• Furniture will include a wide variety of tables, chairs, stools, and lounge furniture to support conversation, connection, and flexibility for events.
• Parents’ room with sink, fridge, and space for rocking chairs and play areas.
• Large restrooms with plenty of fixtures.
• Conference Room with modern meeting technology and seating for 14.
• Direct access to the Sacristy with a new Altar Guild support area.
• New entry/egress from sanctuary via passageway at the front of the NW corner.
• Connection directly to the second level of the Grace Center.
• Storage Room for seasonal worship furnishings and event support.

Interior: Balcony Level

• Access via the new stairs in the NE corner of the Broadway Building or the elevator connecting all levels.
• Connection through the existing North tower.
• Glass windows overlooking Broadway.

Interior: Basement Level

• Connection to the newly updated Phase 1 church basement, with elevator access.
• New Luther Room classroom with the same capacity as the existing Grace Center Classroom.
• Musical instrument warm-up room
• Courtyard parking becomes an enclosed parking garage.
